Today, I begin my second Camino pilgrimage, walking the Camino Portuguรฉs from Porto, Portugal, through Santiago de Compostela, and concluding in Finisterre, Spain โ often referred to as โthe end of the world.โ Over the next 21 days, I will walk in honor of my late parents, who gave me the greatest gift of my life: my Catholic faith.
I walked my first Camino back in September 2021 โ the Camino Francรฉs from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain โ a pilgrimage of 34 days and nearly 500 miles in honor of my late brother Dennis, who passed away far too young at 19. That pilgrimage was the most transformative experience of my life.
For this Camino, I will be praying for the grace to discern where the Lord is calling me in this next chapter of life at 71 and to let go of old scripts that no longer serve me and to be more present to the people who matter most in my life: my wife Jean, my children and grandchildren, my extended family, my friends, and to my clients and fellow bereaved whose constant presence in my life is itself a gift from God.
As I did on the Camino Francรฉs, I will once again light candles at the Cathedral of St. James in Santiago โ for all the loved ones in my extended family now in God’s embrace and for those who are still here in this life walking with their own grief.

As I begin this special Camino, it is with deepest gratitude for the love of my family and the deep faith my parents planted in my heart all those years ago. My prayer is simple: to grow in love, patience, peace, kindness, gentleness, and joy in the hope I can become, slowly and imperfectly, the person He is calling me to be.
Wishing my clients, fellow coaches, and friends Buen Camino โ and may your own journey, wherever it leads, be filled with God’s abundant grace.
